Willis Anson's Obituary
Willis "Bill" Anson 79, of Camanche died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, October 20, 2011 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Camanche. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home where an 8:00 pm Blue Lodge service will be conducted. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kate, Cole, Kyle, Robbie, Bryan, Ben and Jack. Willis W. Anson was born on September 1, 1932 in Camanche, the son of Glenn W. and Alice M. (Willis) Anson. He was a 1950 Clinton High School graduate. He was a United States Navy Korean War veteran. He married Charleen J. Jensen on May 10, 1952 in Yuma, AZ. Bill was a Pipefitter with Local #387 in Davenport and Local #25 in Rock Island for twenty five years prior to retiring in 1994. Bill was also the first mail carrier in Camanche. He was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of the Camanche Masonic Lodge #60 and 50 year member of Eastern Star. He was a member of Blue Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite Bodies, Kaaba Shrine, Legion of Honor and Clinton Shrine. He was a Past Master and Past Commander Knights Templar of Iowa. He was a member of the Eagles Club, Camanche American Legion, Camanche VFW, Clinton AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans, Atomic Veterans and the USS Magoffin Association. He is survived by his wife Charlene of Camanche; four sons, William R. (Cathy) Anson of Iowa City, Tracy A. (Kathy) Anson of Clinton, Glenn C. Anson of Iowa City and David L. (Tammy) Anson of Iowa City; six grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Memorials may be made to the family.
