William Putman's Obituary
William G. “Bill” Putman, 57, of Camanche, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home in Camanche. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Graves, Lou Palmer, Tony Terronez, Roy Seymour, Brett Dahl, and Josh Dahl. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Fasnacht, Joe Chelar, Ronald Moore, Joe Stratton, and Adam Thomasson. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be Monday from 9:30am to the service time at the funeral home. William George Putman was born on February 23, 1954 in DeWitt, Iowa, the son of George and Lucile (Tyler) Putman. He was a 1972 graduate of Camanche High School. During high school and after he worked at Barrows Camp-O-Rama and Compliment Conversion Van Company. He then was employed with Determann Industries as a dump truck driver for 16 years. He was currently employed for the past 21 years with UPS in Davenport. Bill enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes, the St. Louis Cardinals, and collecting NASCAR items. He was a fixture of the Lyons Farmer’s Market on Saturday with his good friend Jean Morgan. He was a loving son, trusted brother, caring uncle and faithful friend. Bill is survived by four sisters: Susan (Dennis Fasnacht) Putman of Capitola, California, Beth Chelar of Rock Island, Illinois, Laura (Lou) Palmer of Clinton, Nancy (Bill) Graves of Camanche; one brother: Dr. James (Dr. Kate Holt, PhD.) Putman, M.D. of Iowa City, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
