Sophia Kavadas' Obituary
Sophia Josephine Kavadas passed away May 25, 2009 at the age of 91 at Mercy Living Center-North in Clinton. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Josephine was born in Scottsbluff, NE on May 18, 1918 to Anastasios and Orsa (Trinadefilakis) Pappas. She married William Germanis in 1936; he died in 1937. They had a daughter, Katherine. She married Thomas Kavadas in 1937; he died in May of 1960. Thomas and Josephine baptized Katherine and changed her name to Bernice. She worked during the war at Clinton Corn, Swifts, and almost 30 years at Dairy Pak. She was always thankful for having a job. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her pets Rusty and Dusty very much. She is survived by her five children: Bernice (the late Dick) Goddard, Dan (Carol) Kavadas of Ankeny, IA, Kathryn (Roy) Gensch of Muskego, WI, Georgia (Bob) Knutson of Clinton, and Anastasios (Vivian) Kavadas of Clinton; 9 grandchildren: Debra, Renee, Lori, Carrie, Michael, Kristina, Amy, Susanna and Tia; 18 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and one nephew: Tom (Joyce) Pappas of East Moline, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and one son in law.
