Tonya and Wes, I am so sorry I missed your Mom's visitation. I have some great memories of our times at Roosevelt Admin. The "crafting" we did at lunch time, the OBE conferences, the planning and execution of those were exhausting, but fun too. I know she will be missed by all. Sincerely, Randa McAlpine

We enjoyed having Robert and Sonja join us for lunch and hymn singing on Senior Moments Mondays at CrossView Church. Always a delightful conversation. Sorry to hear of her passing.

Sonja and I lived across the street from one another in DeWitt when I was a preschooler and she was in kindergarten. We played together most days and were close friends at that time. I loved her long braids and some days watched her mother work the magic of French braids! Sonja was two years ahead of me in school and my family moved across town so we drifted apart but we reconnected a few years ago on FB. When Bob died perhaps she, too, was sick but her posts on FB became less and less. I am sorry to learn of her death but memories by her friends indicate she continued to pursue her many interests. tSonja and I had so much fun at church and the bus trips to Riverside Casino. I still have the stuffed frog that she found at the church rummage sale. She also liked my frog hat and mittens.
Sonja played such a crucial role in keeping the Clinton community school district communication flowing . Even though the district at that point in time had seven elementary schools two middle schools in the high school plus the alternative high school. She would bring the communication together with her monthly district newsletter.
I’ve kept them to this day so I can remember key teacher friends birthdays. and her meticulous work made it possible.
I always wished I could figure out how long time CHS industrial arts teacher and house builder- Dave Johnson got Sonja to list his birthday as a late August date in this publication. I always try to celebrate his birthday along with Barb Brondyke at the end of August and he always laughed.
Sonja was a good friend and a great supporter of Lyons Middle School. I often enjoyed candid conversations with her about school events and life. Sonja's wit and writing skills were the best. My deepest sympathy to Wes, Tanya, and her entire family.
