Shawn Card's Obituary
Shawn P. Card, 35, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa after a strong and hard fight against cancer. Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Camanche with Dr. Donald Batz officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Union Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Rheames, Tom McManus, Jay Sommers, Britt Mackin, Tim McAleer, Jason McGarry, Eric Perry, and Ryan Jacobsen. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johann Pierce, Mike Rampey, Mark Fey, Shaun Honeywell, Brian Turnis, Alex Fuller, and Chris Padgett. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.
Shawn Patrick Card was born on March 10, 1972 in Clinton, the son of Robert and Judy (Powell) Card.
Shawn was a 1990 graduate of DeWitt Central High School. He also attended Illinois Central College, Bradley University, and Arizona State University.
Shawn enjoyed playing golf and teaching golf as an assistant pro at the Superstition Springs Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona and at Valley Oaks Golf Club in Clinton.
Shawn was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Shawn is surived by his son: Sebastian Meggers of DeWitt, Iowa; his mother: Judy (Don) Pisel of Camanche, Iowa; his father: Robert (Shirley) Card of Folletts, Iowa,; one brother: Todd (Delinda) Card of Camanche, Iowa; his maternal grandfather: Dale Powell of Camanche, Iowa; his paternal grandfather: LeRoy Card of Folletts, Iowa;; a special friend: Laura Ladehoff and his beloved dog: Bogey.
Shawn is preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandmothers.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to his son: Sebastian's Education Fund.
