Shannon R. Spooner's Obituary
Shannon R. Spooner, 57, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at MercyOne – Clinton.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A prayer service will follow at 6:00pm at the funeral home. A private family burial will be Thursday at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Shannon Ross Spooner was born on May 11, 1968 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Ross and Lynda (Goldensoph) Spooner. He was a 1987 graduate of Clinton High School and received his Hazardous Materials Technology Certificate from Clinton Community College. He married Dana Andersen on October 20, 2006 in Clinton.
Shannon was an Environmental Services Worker at University of Iowa Health Care.
Shannon enjoyed the outdoors and nature. He raised ducks and enjoyed doing taxidermy work. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. He was proud to be and honored to have been raised to 3rd degree Mason. He was grateful to be part of such a selective brotherhood.
Shannon is survived by his wife: Dana of Clinton; his daughter: Alayna Spooner of Ankeny, his son: Logan at home; a grandson: Brayden Spooner of Ankeny, his mother: Lynda Spooner of Clinton; his siblings: Shawn (Donna) Spooner of Robins, Iowa, Dawn (Mike) Mulholland of Clinton, and Darcy Spooner of Clinton; brother-in-law: Dave Stoller of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister: Kelly, two nephews: Matthew Mulholland and Taylor Spooner; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Larry and Connie Andersen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the to the family for the use of his son, Logan’s post-secondary education in honor of his father’s memory.
