Robert Holste's Obituary
C. Robert "Bob" Holste, 70, of Clinton, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Keeling, Cpl. Joseph Moore, Zac Moore, Mark Holste, Duane Boyd, Tom Holste, and Jim Nelson. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bob was born on February 17, 1938 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of Charles and Catherine (Leach) Holste. He married Donna Jean Skiff on March 23, 1994 in Hawaii. Bob attended Seton Hall Prep, New Jersey, and graduated from Villa Grove High School, Illinois, in 1956.
Bob was employed with Lyondell/Equistar, as a lab supervisor, and retired in 2000, after 32 years of service.
Bob enjoyed lengthy conversations, traveling to the Hawaiian Islands, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife: Donna Jean of Clinton; three daughters: Sandi Keeling of Camanche, Iowa; Cheryl Holste of Portland, Oregon, and Janet Queen of Lexington, North Carolina; one son: Rick Holste of Clinton, Iowa; one step-daughter from his first marriage: Deb Craig of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren : Kristin Keeling, Adam Keeling, Cpl. Joseph Moore, and Zac Moore; two brothers: Don (Nan) Holste of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Fred (Barb) Holste of Tuscola, Illinois, and one sister: Mary Ann Boyd of Decatur, Illinois.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one niece.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Lori Skiff Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund, or a charity of your choice.
