Robert German's Obituary
Dr. Robert G. German, MD, 74, of Fulton, died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Monday, November 9, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Jennifer Henry officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-6:00pm at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Robert George German was born on May 3, 1935 in State Center, Iowa, the son of Dwight and Helen (Gray) German. He married Sharon Oonk on July 6, 1974, in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. German graduated from State Center High School and Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa School of Medicine where he also completed his residency and became board certified in the practice of Dermatology. Bob served in the United States Navy and flew several medical missions during the Vietnam War. Bob practiced dermatology in Clinton and in Sterling, Illinois for over 39 years. He truly loved practicing dermatology and deeply cared for his patients and staff. He was active in many community activities and belonged to several community service organizations. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing, singing barbershop, listening to gospel music and spending time with family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife: Sharon of Fulton; three sons: Robert H. German and his wife: Melissa of Spring Lake, Michigan; grandchildren: Robby and Riley ; Timothy Robert German of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren: Katheryn and Miranda; and Matthew Gray German and Myriah of Moline, Illinois and grandson Jacob. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 439 - 3rd Avenue South Clinton, Iowa 52732 or a charity of your choice.
