I knew Bob when I attended UI in the mid to late 90s. I would meet Bob for dinner a couple times a week to help him eat, and to soak in his wisdom and his fun-loving personality. He was able to find true pleasure in the smallest things. His joy for living changed the way I see the world, even if I didn't realize it at the time. I am now a college professor, and I teach about aging and disability and try to help students move past their preconceived notions and imagine the possibilities of lives that seem unfathomable to them. I am grateful to Bob for his friendship, for his grace, and for all that he taught me.
