Otto Fink's Obituary
Otto L. Fink, 90, of Clinton, died peacefully Saturday evening at the Alverno health care facility, Clinton, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Elvria Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Jane Rothman officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Otto Leonard Fink was born on April 29, 1921, in McPherson County, South Dakota, the son of John and Martha (Pfeifle) Fink. He attended with Chilton Township Schools in Mott, North Dakota.
Otto served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1945 in the Pacific Theatre. After being honorably discharged he married Irene Jenner on November 22, 1945, in Ashley, North Dakota.
Otto was a certified welder at Allied Steel in Clinton retiring after over 27 years.
Otto was an active member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church where he served on the council and an usher. He enjoyed fishing, cards, boating, gardening and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was honored by traveling on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in October 2009.
Otto is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Irene, of Clinton; two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Larry) Schultz of rural Sabula, Iowa; Marcella “Marci” (Terry) Westenfelt of Miles, Iowa; one son, Lyle Fink of Clinton; 6 grandchildren: Denise (Paul) Judge, Ross (Robyn) Landon, Cory Dann, Kelly Rixen, Tanya Smith and Trent Westenfelt; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren; 6 stepgreat-grandchildren and 4 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Milton (Audrey) Jenner of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Leona Schmitt of Bismarck, North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; one brother, Herbert Fink; a half sister, Helen Schauf; four stepbrothers, Otto, Jacob, Harry, and Edwin; and three stepsisters, Frieda, Beatta and Christine.
Memorials can be made to Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, the Alverno or Genesis Hospice.
