Nellie Grossman's Obituary
Nellie G. Grossman, 91, of Clinton, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Grossman, James Grossman, Jace Ugarph, Al Doty, Duane Schmidt, and Michael Gilbert. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
Nellie Georgia Dixon was born on April 16, 1917 in Clinton, the daughter of George and Nellie (Miller) Dixon. She married Harold Grossman on August 13, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa; he later died on March 26, 1959.
Nellie was a 1934 graduate of Clinton High School. She and her husband were avid workers on the Bright Spot family dairy farm and also was employed at the Clinton Garment Factory for 20 years.
Nellie was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, member of Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary, Samaritan Auxiliary, Clinton Horsemen's Club, a 4-H Leader, delivered Meals on Wheels and loved volunteer work.
Nellie is survived by one son: Robert (Betty) Grossman of Clinton; one daughter: Sharon (Michael) Gilbert of Daly City, California; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son in infancy, and two brothers.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Victory Center or Camp Courageous.
