Mildred Watters' Obituary
Mildred W. Watters, 82, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in Fulton, Illinois. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Clinton Snell-Zornig Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Mildred was born January 3, 1927 in Monticello, Iowa, daughter of Thomas L. and Bess (Leaper) Warner. She married a United States Marine, Howard J. Watters on December 4, 1944 in Iowa City, Iowa. He passed away on April 18, 2006. Mildred attended Monticello Public School and graduated with the class of 1944. She was employed with Northwestern Bell and Pacific Bell for 12 years and advanced to management positions. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a life member of VFW Auxiliary, a life member of the Second Marine Division Association and DAV. Mildred enjoyed being a homemaker, reading, writing poetry and traveling. Mildred is survived by her two daughters: Sharon (Eugene) Farrington of Anamosa, Iowa and Susan (Dave) Dauphin of Albany, Illinois; one son: Donald G. Watters of Fulton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister: Doloris (Lyle) Hosford of Monticello, Iowa; and one brother: Lee (Nancy) Warner of Bullhead City, Arizona. Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents and two brothers John and Paul.
