Maxine Marie Mauck Wagner “shuffled off to Buffalo” one last time on April 14, 2023 at the age of 103. Per her wishes, she donated her body to the University of Iowa. Maxine often said; "You don't need your organs in heaven".
Maxine was born March 6, 1920 in Garwin, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles & Alma (Dunn) Mauck. Maxine was a 1938 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Warren John Wagner, May 3, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa. He died April 27, 1982.
Maxine owned Maxine's School of Dance, and taught for 47 years. She started her dance studio in 1934 teaching at St. Mary's, Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Angels schools. Maxine was a Dance Master in 1939. She belonged to the Presbyterian Church, and was a Sunday school teacher. Maxine was also a Cub Scout den mother and had the only Cub Scout drill team. Maxine always enjoyed working with children and took great pleasure in watching them grow up.
Maxine “The Dancing Queen” was honored to receive the Key to the City, presented to her by the mayor and city council of Clinton on her 100th birthday. Additionally, the mayor declared March 6 of that year, Maxine Mauck Wagner day in honor of her lifelong devotion to the children of Clinton Iowa.
Maxine is survived by her two grandsons; Bryan (Kim) Wagner, Lake Forrest, IL, Brent (Stephanie) Wagner, Joliet, IL; her 7 great-grandchildren; JC (Colleen) Wagner, Hayden Wagner, Cordelia Wagner, Cormac Wagner, Declan Wagner, Paige Wagner, Hastings Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her Husband; sons Charles & John Wagner; daughter, Lynn Wagner; 3 brothers, Eugene, Robert, and Gail Mauck.
