Maxine Jessen's Obituary
Maxine Jessen, 93, of Clinton, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton. Memorial Services will be 10:30am, Monday, November 1, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church. Burial of the cremains will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation, the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Maxine was born on April 10, 1917 in Clinton, Iowa. She was a 1935 graduate of Lyons High School. She married Carl Jessen on October 19, 1941 at Grace Episcopal Church; he later died October 6, 1996. She was employed as a seamstress at the Clinton Garment Company and later was employed at the Nielsen Clearing House, retiring in 1981. She was a very active member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a member of Eastern Star #65, American Legion Auxiliary, the Clinton Women’s Club, and the Samaritan Auxiliary. She is survived by two daughters: Cheryl (Patrick) Pearson of Camanche, and Diane Gilliland of Rock Island, Illinois, one son: John (Malea) Jessen of Macomb, Illinois, five grandchildren: John (Jill) Pearson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mike (Stacey) Gilliland of Milan, Illinois, Gina (Dallas) Cox of Milan, Illinois, Lisa Carter of Chicago, Illinois, and Megan Carter of Colchester, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, and a special friend: William Walker. Memorials can be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
