Margery Benning's Obituary
Margery R. Benning, 88, of DeWitt, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at West Wing Place in DeWitt. Memorial Services will be held at the DeWitt Lutheran Fellowship Church on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Paul Lang will be officiating. Margery R. Benning was born on May 25, 1920 in Donahue, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Helen (Dittmer) Benning. She graduated class of 1937 from DeWitt High School and later attended Scovill Business College in Clinton, Iowa. Margery worked as a property underwriter for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company for 40 years, retiring in 1982. She has been a resistant of DeWitt since 1923 and was an active member of the Lutheran Fellowship Church in DeWitt. Margery also enjoyed exploring her family’s genealogy. Survivors include her brother in law: Henry Pelham of DeWitt. Margery is preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Robert Elmer, and one sister: Helen Faye Pelham. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, West Wing Place, or DeWitt Lutheran Fellowship Church. Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
