LeRoy McDonald's Obituary
LeRoy W. “Mac” McDonald, 81, of Clinton, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Prince of Peace Parish Sacred Heart Chapel. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Kuhlman, Tim McDonald, Brian Caven, Tom Ladehoff, Pat Goddard, and Tom Whalen. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Huling, Robert Whitley, and Jack Kuhlman. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. LeRoy William McDonald was born on November 18, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Loretta (Byam) McDonald. He married Mary Stecklein on January 28, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa; she later died March 4, 2003. Mac was a 1946 graduate of Clinton High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Mac was an electrician at DuPont from 1952 until his retirement in 1985. Mac was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, a member of the Clinton AMVETS where he enjoyed spending time with his buddies and playing video poker, an avid deer and pheasant hunter, enjoyed spending time with his family, and enjoyed his daily trips to the dog park with his dog Jake who was found to have died naturally on the same day of Mac’s passing. Mac is survived by his two sons: Dennis (Margaret) McDonald of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, and Michael McDonald of Clinton, Iowa; one daughter: Vickie (Randy) Kuhlman of Maquoketa, Iowa, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and one brother. Memorials can be made to the Clinton AMVETS or the Prairie Pastures Dog Park.
