John L. Olson's Obituary
John L. Olson, 60, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Thursday February 15, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Clinton. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bethany Luzny, Mike Wolter, Jon Kuiper, Devin Land and Hilary Graham. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
John Lyle Olson was born December 8, 1957 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Caroline (Geronzin) Olson. He was a 1979 Clinton High School graduate from the special education program. He worked at Skyline South for many years.
John was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church – Clinton; he loved dancing to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, and enjoyed a good piece of cake (with extra frosting!). In his younger years, John loved to participate in Special Olympics, winning many medals. He lived in the L’arche Community of Clinton since 1993. He was a great friend to many.
He is survived by his family at the L’arche Community of Clinton; his guardian and friend: Hilary (Cody) Graham of Port Byron, Illinois and cousin: Mark Judd of Fulton.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his dear friend George Heitt.
Memorial may be made to the L’arche of Clinton.
