John Clark's Obituary
John Deloss Clark, 71, of Clinton died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2009 from 4 to 7pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory where a 7pm Blue Lodge service will be conducted. Services will be Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:30am at the First United Methodist Church. Private burial will be Monday in Oakland Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Kroeger, Dean Ernst, Bob Hjelmaas, Terry Cravatta, Gene Hiett, Jim Braudt, Harold Welcher and Mike Linden.
John was born April 17, 1938 in State Center, Iowa the son of Deloss and Vivian (Ewalt) Clark. He was a 1957 Marion, Iowa High School graduate. He attended college for two years. He was a United States Marine Corps Reserve Veteran. John married Wilma Wilkinson October 25, 1963 in Marion, Iowa.
John was employed at FMC Corp. for 23 years. He was later employed with the Linn-Mar, Iowa School District for 10 years. John was also an active volunteer in the Clinton Area with his church and RSVP.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, was a primary founder of the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, He rode in the first RAGBRAI and twelve RAGBRAI's since it's inception. John worked with Habitat for Humanity and he thoroughly enjoyed helping people out. His greatest joy was his two grandchildren.
John was a member of the Trojan Masonic Lodge #548, Marion, Iowa and was past Master in 1998; he was a member of the Camanche Masonic Lodge #60 and past Master in 2008, He was a member of the Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, Clinton Hi-12 and the current vice president of Hi-12, he was a member of the El Kahir Shrine Foot Patrol Unit in Cedar Rapids and he was the current President of the Gateway Masonic Organization. Survivors include his wife, Wilma of Clinton, IA; daughter, Julie (Scott) Reyhons of Clinton, IA; grandchildren, Allison Anne Reyhons and Austin Clark Reyhons; brothers, Clair (Ann) Clark of Marion, IA and Mark (Marcia) Clark of Ashland, NE; sister-in-law, Sharon (Robert) Murray of Marion, IA; brother-in-law, Len Wilkinson of Burke, VA; niece, Jennifer (Wade) Markley of Marion, IA and Nephew, Christopher (Courtenay) Clark of Coralville, IA. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, LaVonne.
