Janis Johnson's Obituary
Janis R. Johnson, 78, of Clinton, died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Janis Rae Schultz was born on July 20, 1932, in Green Island, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Gladys (Meyer) Schultz. She later moved as a child to Clinton and was raised by her aunt and uncle Ludolph and Violet Grossman. She was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School. Janis married Donald Johnson on October 19, 1949 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. She was a homemaker. She and her husband Don operated the Almont Tap from 1972-1977. She worked with Dr. Glaess as an x-ray technician and also worked at Bender Music. Janis’ family meant the world to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and during the late 1950’s and 1960’s she was heavily involved with PTA, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Janis is survived by her husband of over 60 years: Donald of Clinton; two sons: Donald (Teresa) Johnson, Jr. of Clinton; Rick (Tammy Olsen) Johnson of Clinton; one daughter: Janie (Jerry) Otto of Clinton; 8 grandchildren: Heather, Tonya, Rick, Nathan, Christopher, Justin, Natasha, and Joshua; 9 great-grandchildren including: Joeleigh, Ashten, Ethan, and Landen; two brothers: Neil Schultz of Arizona, Reynold Schultz of Washington; two sisters: Jean Schaffer of St. Louis, Missouri, and Linda Heffrom of Clinton, Iowa, and sister-in-law: Earlene Schultz of Camanche. Janis was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle who raised her, one granddaughter, one brother, and one sister. Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
