James Rice's Obituary
James Lucien Rice, 61, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his home in Clinton. Memorial Services will be 4 PM, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory.
James was born August 20, 1951 in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of Orra and Helen (Poerschmann) Rice. James was a 1969 graduate of Clinton High School, he earned his BA degree from the University of Dubuque and his MA Degree from the University of Iowa. He was employed as a Federal Surveyor with the Health Care Financing Agency. Later James founded, Focus Teaching Systems, where he was a passionate advocate for the developmentally disabled.
He married Gwen Hall in St. Louis, MO, in 2001.
James had over 1000 friends on Facebook and loved to talk about politics, music and movies.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen; four step-children, including Curtis Dee; four step-grandchildren, Drianna, Henry and Dorian Richardson and Romel Williams; his twin sister, Jane Rice of Clinton and brother, Gary Rice of Santa Rosa, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Foundation Aiding the Elderly.
