James Golinvaux's Obituary
James V. Golinvaux, 74, of Fulton, Illinois, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Mercy Living Center - North. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. To honor Jim's love of the Iowa Hawkeyes everyone is encouraged to wear black and gold to the service. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Golinvaux, Ryan Golinvaux, Barry Golinvaux, Andrew Golinvaux, Jordan Richeson, and Michael Leon. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Greg Ladehoff, Chuck Cox, Larry Barnes, Dick Forrest, Steve Cagley, and Steve Straley. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-8:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. James Vincent Golinvaux was born on August 26, 1937 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Dr. Vincent and Cecelia (Carlon) Golinvaux. He was a 1955 graduate of Waterloo West High School. He attended Creighton University and the University of Iowa. He played baseball and football for the Hawkeyes. Jim married Michaele Lawlor, M. Patrice Smith and later Judith Sorensen-Cook on August 29, 1998 in Fulton. Jim was a franchisee owner of Famous Recipe Chicken and Pizza Hut's in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Jim was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, and avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and supporter of the I-Club. He enjoyed photography and served as a Big Ten Photographer for many years. He was honored to have one of his photos of Hayden Fry selected for Coach Fry's retirement photo. He was one of the co-founders of Clinton Junior Football. He also enjoyed traveling. Jim is survived by his wife: Jude of Fulton; three sons: Jim (Sheryl) Golinvaux of Columbus, Indiana, Ryan (Jassica) Golinvaux of West Bend, Wisconsin, and Barry (Monica Piehl) Golinvaux of Davenport, Iowa; three daughters: Mary (Corey) Burmeister of Clinton, Iowa, Julie (Spencer) Trask of Henderson, Nevada, and Michelle Leon of Clinton, Iowa; four step-daughters: Jeanne (Dale) Langrehr of Anderson, South Carolina, Jodi (Dan) Graff of Sterling, Illinois, Jessica (Jason) Stearns of Clinton, Iowa, and Amanda Cook of Clinton, Iowa; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, 5 step-grandchildren; two brothers: John (Maureen) Golinvaux of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Jerry (Charlotte) Golinvaux of Wayzata, Minnesota; five nephews; two sister-in-laws: Linda (Alan) Lueders, and Pam (Dan) Kremer both of Clinton and his beloved Yorkie: Herkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter: Ann in 1971. Memorials can be made to the Skyline Center or to American Diabetes.
