Helen Walker's Obituary
Helen J. Walker, 89, of Clinton, died Friday, December 10, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11am Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric and Bryan Walker, Casey Walker, Bart Hyde, Josh Honeywell, Ray Johnson and Darrel Dau. Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Monday, December 13 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Helen J. Mikle was born May 7, 1921 in East Chicago, Indiana the daughter of Theodore and Florence (Moaira) Mikle. She married Robert Howe Walker on January 6, 1948 in Iowa City. He died August 8, 2001. Helen and her husband owned and operated Walkers Tavern from 1948 until 2005, when it closed due to the expansion of ADM. Helen is survived by her 4 sons: Robert A. (Wanda) Walker of Clinton; Donald P. Walker of Clinton; George E. (Kathleen) Walker of Clinton; and Arthur "Sam" K. (Vickie) Walker of Camanche; daughter: Flori-Ann H. LaHue of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Therese M. Honeywell who died in 2007; two brothers; and three sisters. Memorials may be made to the family.
