Greg Lauz's Obituary
Dr. L. Greg Lauz, 68 of Fulton, Illinois died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at his home in Fulton. Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 3pm-9pm and Friday February 1, 2008 from 3pm- 9pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 10:00am at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Dr. Oliver Ancheta, Dr. Suheil Barakat, Dr. Virgilio Corpuz, Dr. Hrair Garabedian, Dr. Nidal Harb, Daniel Jefferies, Dr. Elpidio Mariano, Dr. Mel Marilim, David Ramnath, Dr. Alfonso Torres and Dr. Dale Weber. Leonardo Gregario Lauz was born in Manila, Philippines on April 22, 1939 the son of Leon Sucgang and Dolores (Gregario) Lauz. He received his medical training at the University of Santo Thomas in the Philippines. He did his Pediatric Residency at Tulane University and worked in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for one year before beginning his practice as a board certified pediatrician in Clinton on February 1, 1971. Dr. Lauz was a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatricians; he completed several medical missions to the Philippines, helped with hurricane Katrina and recently completed a medical mission in Peru. He has traveled all over the world for medical missions as well as for his own adventure. He was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, the arts, gardening and traveling. Greg was a very religious person who enjoyed life, especially all of his patients and his medical practice. Every year he sponsored the yearly procession of Jesus at the Garden of Getsemani, which is the pet project of his late mother wherin, he shoulders all the expenses of food, flowers, and decorations. Dr. Lauz was an active life member of the Clinton County Medical Society, he was chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Mercy Hospital and was the coordinator of MECO (Medical Education Community Outreach) at the University of Iowa. Survivors include his brothers, Ildefonso ?Eddie? (Hildegard) Lauz and Carlos (Ana J.) Lauz both of the Philippines; several nieces and nephews and his numerous colleagues and friends.
