Gilbert Petersen's Obituary
Gilbert Petersen, 77, of Clinton, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Mercy Living Center-North in Clinton.
Private burial will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery at a later date. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements. Gilbert Petersen was born August 9, 1933 the son of Detlaf A. and Leona (Greve) Petersen in Teeds Grove, Iowa. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959 and later worked as a truck driver. Gilbert was a huge John Wayne fan and collector of his memorabilia. He was a quiet man that befriended many people in our community and touched many lives. He will be sadly missed by his friends.Gilbert is survived by one sister: Lucille D. Smith of Denver Colorado; one niece; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
