Gary Dale Huizenga's Obituary
Gary Dale Huizenga, 58, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A private family gathering will follow the visitation.
Gary was born February 6, 1957 in Morrison, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Gertrude (Baar) Huizenga. He attended Western Illinois University for three years. Gary married Gayle Rathje in Sabula on July 15, 1978; he later married Elizabeth Dehner in Clinton on December 23, 1993.
He was employed at RockTenn in Clinton for more than 35 years, where he worked his way to his current position as digital pre-press manager.
He was a member of the Clinton Country Club and was an avid golfer; he had two holes-in-one. He enjoyed doing lawn work and his dog Chiquis. His ten grandchildren were his pride and joy and he thoroughly enjoyed watching them all play sports.
Survivors include his wife, Liz of Clinton; son, Jeremy (Nichole) Huizenga of Clinton and grandchildren, Makinze, Isaac and Jade; daughter, Jamie (Brandon) Pennock of Clinton and grandchildren, Cole and Skyler; daughter, Jana (Mitch) VanZuiden of Belvidere, IL and grandchildren, Alexandria and Austin; step-son, Matthew (Monica) Henthorn from Morrison, IL and grandchildren, Cadence, Ophelia and Judah; parents, Elmer and Gertrude Huizenga of Morrison, IL; siblings, Betty Bower of Franklin, TN; Nancy (Jerry) Rutledge of Morrison, IL; Tom (Kristi) Huizenga of Morrison, IL and Debbie (Craig) Hills of Dixon, IL; his children’s mother, Gayle Fraker of Clinton and her daughter, Kaci (Tom) Dellit of Clinton and nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his Angel, Abby.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Helen V. Rossi Foundation at the University of Iowa.
