Elaine L. Michaelsen's Obituary
Elaine L. Michaelsen, 96, of Clinton passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Park Vista in Camanche.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Thursday September 16, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lane Michaelsen, Andrew Marti, David Goldensoph, Colleen Siler, Shannen Michaelsen and Ben Marti. Elaine Leona Clausen was born April 1, 1925 in Green Island, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Alice (Petersen) Clausen. She was a 1942 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Harold L. Michaelsen on November 17, 1945 in Clinton; he preceded her death on July 3, 1990.
Elaine worked for Nielsens for 9 years, Burpee Seed as a Department Head for 10 years and then as a Library Clerk at the Clinton Community Schools for 11 years; retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton and active in many women’s circles at the church. She was a member of the YWCA and enjoyed being involved with all of her children’s activities. She enjoyed gardening, being a homemaker but mostly she enjoyed time spent with her family.
Elaine is survived by two children: Jill (Andrew) Marti of Princeton, Illinois and Lane (Patricia Kearns-Michaelsen) Michaelsen of St. Cloud, Florida; six grandchildren: Shannon Michaelsen of Orlando, Florida, Colleen (Rob) Siler of Orlando, Florida, Mackenzie Carlisle of Janesville, Iowa, Bailey (William) Aukes of Janesville, Iowa, Ben (Jackie) Marti of Altadena, California, Aly (Matt Johns) Marti of Chicago, Illinois; one great grandson: Forest Thomas Aukes; and one sister: Mary Wilkerson of Camanche.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter: Jean Carlisle, two brothers, one sister and son-in-law Tom Carlisle.
