Oh Ed! We are so sad to hear of your passing. I apologize for not reaching out more often these last several months of your illness, but it was always an absolute pleasure the times we did chat! We’ve enjoyed getting to know you the last several years on Shuffleboard Sundays. You were always competitive, funny, and enjoyed the game and the friendships built with others sliding those pucks back and forth on those tables. You were the one who got myself and my family hooked on Iowa Women’s basketball; as during Caitlin Clark’s freshman year you asked me one Sunday, “hey Kimmer. You ever watch the Iowa women’s basketball games? They got this freshman who is really good, Caitlin Clark is her name”. As lifelong IOWA Hawkeye fans, we didn’t hesitate to start tuning in, and rarely have missed watching a game since (and now the Fever too), and over the last 4 years we often had the Iowa Women games on at Johnnie’s while we shot shuffleboard. Our “season” starts on Sunday, and let me tell you, there will be a huge piece missing without your presence at the table. I’m still in the habit of looking for you at Wagner’s. Whether I was in the store or in the drive thru, we always shared hellos. Thank you for the friendship and fun over the years. You will be sorely missed by us, and our kids. Rest easy, friend. Sympathy and prayers to your family as well, as I have no doubt they will miss you terribly, as you talked about them all the time with great love and admiration. Julie and family, thinking of you all. May your memories bring you comfort and peace. Rest in peace Eddie! 💙😇
