When I came to CHS as an associate principal in 1983, Doug was a driver ed teacher who became a fishing partner up on Smooth Rock Lake in Canada. We caught and ate walleyes until we were tired! When I was selected principal of CHS in 1986, he was my first hire as associate principal. Over the years, we fished, laughed, learned, and helped make CHS “a great place for students to learn and grow.” Together, we started 3.0 Club to honor students for academic achievement. Doug was more than an associate principal; he was a smart, caring, and hardworking friend that I could count on to run the school, hire quality staff members, and take care of school discipline in a fair and caring manner. He was “my rock!” I want to wish Audrey, Matt, Andy, Megan and Ben the very best. He was a good man. He was my friend. I will miss him the rest of my life. Larry and Liz Howe
