I met David when I was just four years old. I had never had a baby brother, so he was like a baby brother to me, even though I was his Aunt. I had no clue what being an aunt was, only that now I had to share my toys with him, and he was very persistent on taking them as his own. No matter where I hid my toys, he would find them. He was a very intelligent child who could figure things out that most children his age could not. David was cooking on the stove at three, which amazed me because I was then seven and couldn't cook anything!
I spent most of my summers as a child at David's home, enjoying playing numerous games, even a personalized game of Clue he made where he had taken funny pictures of family members and taped them over the characters in the game, so we were no longer saying, "Mr. Green did it in the library with a candlestick," It was now "Donna did it in the library with a candlestick!" Made it a lot more fun to play that's for sure!
We watched movies, played video games, played cards, bowled, rode bikes, popped corn and went boating/swimming and camping. David was water skiing at 4 or 5 years old. I was amazed to watch him jet back and forth over the waves and soon he was skiing on one ski and sometimes none! He would smile that big smile and put the ski rope in his mouth and ski that way too! David certainly set the bar high for me since I was 4 years older and was still afraid to even try!
David grew up to be a wonderful man, he loved his family and friends dearly. He was thoughtful and kind, always had a smile on his face and was ready to give you a BIG hug, whether you wanted one or not. LOL! He loved pictures and made sure a picture was taken to remember all events that took place.
Hearing that David had passed hit me hard. I still can't believe it. I will treasure our childhood memories and am saddened that we won't be allowed to make more memories together, but I am thankful he was a part of my life. Rest in Peace David, LOVE YOU.. Aunt Angie
