Gary and Barber families, My warmest condolences at this time of extreme sorrow. Cliff was a great guy and wonderful mentor to the kids in the old neighborhood. Dick
I just noticed Cliff's passing in the obituaries today. I never really got to know Cliff other than when he was a dealer at the blackjack table I would be playing at. However, I eventually would see him on other local casinos when he decided to do some gambling of his own. I just want to pass on my condolences to his friends/family. I am writing this because I wanted to let you all know (as if you already didn't!) what a pleasant guy he was; ALWAYS smiling and wishing each player at his table the best of luck. Again, I never knew him well and doubt if he even knew my name, but he would always speak when he ran into me and ask how I was doing. I'm sure you will all miss him. I'm sure he was an important part of your lives. He sure seemed to be a great guy from my perspective.
As an officer and director of Iowa Mutual Cliff was a man of integrity and great kindness who selflessly resigned from the Board to give the opportunity to another who has built upon Cliff's dedication to the Company. A true gentleman.
Having spent my younger years growing up in the DeWitt community, I had the pleasure to know entire fine Barber family. It was during my tenure on the President that I really got to know Ciff. He was a class act and a real gentleman and friend. He will be long remembered and cherished as a friend to all who knew him. My condolences to the family.
You have our deepest sympathy.
