Dear Sattler family,
I always loved catching up with Carol, at Walmart. She was always so welcoming and friendly to all! RIP Carol.
Know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you remember all the good times you remember with mom.
In condolences,
Maggie & Jim Klaes
Sundays were “family days” at moms house. Sometimes, we would all meet at a restaurant. We all came in separate cars, and would meet back at moms house. Mom had this gift. It was like telecommunication with her children. One day, as we were walking back to our cars, mom says-“the race is on!” She ran like the wind, and jumped in her car. It was instinctive. If there is one thing about the Sattler’s, they are competitive. Mom was closest to her car, as she had planned this, Bill, he was the fastest to run to his car, and I think I seen Jim nearly pull his car door off the hinges. Myself, Deb, always had a souped up car, (generally with no brakes.) All that could be heard from that point was the revving of engines, and the squealing of tires. I looked over at mom, and she was tickled. Jim had a firm grip on the wheel, so not to fly out the door barely hanging on to the hinges. Bill, quick witted as he is, went a direction I hadn’t planned. I knew he had something up his sleeve. We all headed in different directions, smoke trailing behind us. I had lost sight, but not speed, as I looked for the other “racers.” About a half mile away from moms house, we all met at about the same point. I will never forget their faces. Bill looked determined, he never lost a race. Jim was determined to beat Bills ever winning streak, with a devilish grin. I heard Jim’s car rev up, and realized the oncoming dip in the road. I looked at mom, and across her face was sheer terror. Jim hit that dip at a speed Mario Andretti would dare do. It was all in slow motion. Jim’s car had now become a plane, flying through the air. This did not hinder the other racers. If we were lucky, Jim would lose that door, and he would have to stop to pick it up. No such luck. I was able to see Jim’s face through the smoke, and his flight through the air did not deter him. We all arrived safely at moms, a little less full, as I was sick. (thank goodness for that McDonald’s bag.) Who won? I can’t remember. It wasn’t about winning, it was about the race. P.S. the race continued, many times later, mom always gripping her wheel, doing her best to show her kids how it was done.
I will miss your smile and friendship. You were like a second mother to me, always so kind and full of life. I repaired your kitchen window and your shower and was suppose to clean your gutters and extend your down spouts further from your house. Well Carol, I will be looking for you to greet me to Heaven at the golden gates like you did and so many others at Walmart. See you on the other side, your friend Micheal Van Dorn, USN Retired
Carol was always a ray of sunshine for everyone coming through the doors at Walmart. I will miss her bright smile greeting us.
May her family take comfort in the mountain of memories they have, and may Carol rest in the loving arms of God...🙏
My memories of Carol started in my teen years and continued on through the years, I always got a Hug and an update on Deb... I will truly miss this beautiful soul. She was genuine in all she did. Fly High Ma... Until we meet again! All My Thoughts and Prayers go out to the family💔
