Arlene Luett's Obituary
Arlene M. Luett, 87, of Clinton, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Friday, September 30, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Jennifer Henry officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: David Luett, Sean Luett, Eric Luett, Chad Gertson, Joe Teymer, Jason Luett, Tony Luett, Andy Luett, and Mark Williams. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Arlene M. Krabbenhoft was born on July 21, 1924 in Green Island, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Luella (Ringen) Krabbenhoft. She married Gilbert F. Luett on January 31, 1942 in Preston, Iowa; he later died on May 20, 1975. Arlene was a graduate of Preston High School in 1941. She was employed with G.E. in Morrison for 27 years. Arlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and was active with the Martha Circle at Zion. Arlene is survived by three sons: Larry (Linda) Luett of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Richard (Judy) Luett of Clinton, and Steven (Fran) Luett of Clinton; one daughter: Pamela (Randy) Teymer of Bettendorf, Iowa; 14 grandchildren: Lisa, David, Tammi, Sean, Eric, Jennifer, Chad, Kristy, Joe, Jason, Tony, Andy, Stevie, and Mark; 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Vera Rients of Lindenwood, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Arlene cherished her family and found special moments with each of her many grandchildren. She planned numerous mini vacations for them each summer. One of the special family traditions was Christmas at Grandma’s on Christmas Eve. She took pride in good food, music, games, and special gifts for all. Many local kids may have fond memories of playing basketball on the court in Arlene’s barn. Arlene took numerous trips around the world including Austria, Germany, Egypt, England, Spain, Scotland, Mexico, and her special trip to the “Holy Land.” Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and one infant sister. Memorials can be made to the family wishes.
