Yvonne R. Gradert, 84, of Bryant passed away November 24, 2022 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Yvonne Ruby Scharff was born April 11, 1938 in Minnesota, the daughter of Ernie and Dorothy (Degree) Scharff. She was raised in Charlotte, Iowa and graduated from Charlotte High School. She married Earle H. Gradert on January 18, 1958; he preceded her in death on October 9, 2022.
Yvonne was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She worked as a Rural Route Carrier for the United States Postal Service delivering mail to Goose Lake and Bryant. She also worked as a supervisor for Borden Manor Nursing Home for a number of years.
Yvonne had a strong faith and was a member of E-Free church in Clinton. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club but mostly she loved time spent with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons: Jay “Dusty” Gradert of Bryant and Kenny (Kandy) Gradert of Clinton; one granddaughter: Jennifer (Ryan) Sparlin of Preston and one great granddaughter: Gabby Sparlin of Preston; two sister: Harriet “Kay” (Larry) Simmons of Goose Lake and Karen “Pete” (Darrell) Kensrud of Bloominton, Minnesota; and one brother Harry (Judy) Scharff of Charlotte, Iowa.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, parents and several brothers and sisters
