William Thompson's Obituary
William "Bill" Chandler Thompson, 81, of Camanche, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the A.M.V.E.T.S. Visitation will be 11:00 am until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home. William Chandler Thompson was born March 12, 1929 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William B. and Clara H. (Chandler) Thompson. He married Hazel Buckman on February 29, 1964 in Galena, Illinois. She died December 2, 1996. He was employed by Ralston Purina as a millwright and mechanic for 20 years, retiring in 1989. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army Air Force. Bill was a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, the VFW, and the A.M.V.E.T.S. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. He also enjoyed brewing beer and making wine. He is survived by one sister, Barbara (Alan) Small of Lost Nation, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Vera Ott of Clinton; care giver, Nicole Stearns of Camanche, Cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister. Memorials may be made to the AMVETS.
