William Powers' Obituary
William “Bill” C. Powers, 70, of Clinton, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Caroline Engelbrecht from Ascension Lutheran Church in Goose Lake, IA will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 12:30 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. William Conklin Powers was born on July 12, 1938, in Clinton, IA, the son of Conklin and Mildred Powers. He was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School. He was an underwriter with Iowa Mutual Insurance Company in Dewitt for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a Regional Director for the Classic Car Club of America, a Board Member and Docent of the Van Allen Foundation, and was a past member of the Davenport Club. He is survived by one cousin: Robert (Lois) Toppings of Glen Cove, NY; special friends: George A. (Lisa) Chamberlain of Thomson, IL, Terry (Sharon) Hoenicke of Goose Lake, IA, Rick (Suzan) Roggendorf of Clinton, and Robert (Barbara) Davis of Peoria, IL, and his beloved pets Fred, Divvy, and Peak-A-Boo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
