Found out yesterday about Bill's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. As a kid growing up in Spencer I was lucky to have spent a lot of time with Bill and all the guys that were my Father's friends. My Dad and Bill were a pretty tough pairing back in the day. Of all the guys in that group Bill was my "golf idol"...he could hit it the farthest with that Beautiful Power Bilt driver blowing by everyone in the air. I even modeled my grip after his slightly stronger than normal grip! And 5-6 years ago I bought a set of never used 1975 Power bilt clubs orange bag and all with his set that he played in mind. Looking at them right now brings back very fond memories of your Dad. Hopefully your memories are as fond as mine and I wish your family the best in this tough time.

I knew Bill at the University of Dubuque.
I sure do remember Bill. He was a golfer from Clinton, Iowa. He and I had a mutual friend, Jim Jamison, from Moline. Jamison was on the PGA tour for a couple of years and Bill told me he dominated the high school golf conference back in our era. I always liked Bill. Story I remember about him was he and I were walking into the Student Union one time and the jukebox was playing “Last Kiss” by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers (remember that?) for the umpteenth time. Bill said, “ Oh my god, haven’t we killed that girl enough already?” or something to that effect. I have (somewhere) a picture of him and some of us outside the DAV in Dubuque.
I’m sorry to hear about his passing. Fun guy in college. I wish we could have gotten together again someplace along the line.
