William Herrmann's Obituary
William H. Herrmann, 77, of Clinton, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Clinton Church of Christ with Rev. Ken Greeley officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.
William Herman Herrmann was born on January 16, 1931 in Clinton. He was raised by his adoptive parents Lillian and Fred Dorathy. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and later graduated from Iowa State University. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean Conflict.
He married Jean D. Holton on August 3, 1957 in Clinton; she later died on August 11, 2004.
He was a computer programmer with General Electric in Morrison for 33 years.
He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and watching the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by one daughter: Shelley (Kenny) Clark of Clinton; two grandchildren: Margot Clark and Hillary Clark of Clinton; one great-granddaughter: Chasity Clark; and his foster family: Bill Dorathy of Clinton, Gerry (Mary Jo) Dorathy of Neosho Rapids, Kansas, Barbara Roy of Conyers, Kansas, Noreen Moore of Tallahassee, Florida, Marsha Merritt of Clinton, Gwen (Wayne) Schaper of Tallahassee, Florida, and Edith Malone of Clinton; and a special friend: Carolyn Lee of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son and his foster parents.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Clinton Church of Christ.
