William L. Conley's Obituary
William L. Conley, 71, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Mercy – Clinton.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 17, 2019, beginning at 4:00pm and will conclude with a 7:00pm prayer service at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A graveside service will be 11:00am, Monday, March 18, 2019 at Warren County Memorial Park – Monmouth, Illinois. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Nance, Steven Nance, Austin Nance, William Jensen, Tyler Stivers, Robert Hennefent, and Patrick Hennefent.
William Larry Conley was born on May 4, 1947 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of William and Frances (Daves) Conley. He was a 1965 graduate a Monmouth High School. He graduated from Monmouth College in 1969 an later received his masters from Western Illinois in 1976. He married Rebecca Hennefent on June 6, 1970 in Galesburg, Illinois.
Bill started his career in education in Keithsburg, Illinois teaching for seven years before moving to Clinton in 1976. He taught at Washington, Gateway, and Lyons Middle School before retiring 2007. In 2006 he and his wife started the Gazebo Antiques in downtown Lyons.
Bill was an avid bowler and a member of the 700 Club. He coached the bowling team for Clinton High School. He loved going to auctions, traveling, listening to country music and watching sports.
Bill is survived by his wife: Becky of Clinton; his children: Kimberly (David) Nance of Clinton, Kelly Jensen of Evans, Colorado, Patricia (Troy) Stivers of Clinton, and Timothy Conley of Clinton; seven grandchildren: Justin, Steven, and Austin Nance, Jazzlyn & William Jensen, and Kayla C0nley & Tyler Stivers. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved pets: Cross & Buddy.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the family’s choice.
