Wilbur Obermiller's Obituary
Wilbur H. Obermiller, 91, of Clinton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Illini – Silvis, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00am to the service time at the funeral home. Wilbur Henry Obermiller was born on March 10, 1922 in Goose Lake, Iowa, the son of William and Mabel (Claussen) Obermiller. He married Edna Kjergaard on June 11, 1944 in Clinton; she died on April 4, 1999.
Wilbur was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was an electrical superintendant with Clinton Corn for 42 years until retiring in 1982.
Wilbur was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and served on its council, Lyons Masonic Lodge #93, Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, KAABA Shrine, the 25 year club at Clinton Corn, the American Legion, the Clinton Engineer Club, and past-president of Clinton Junior Baseball. He loved baseball and was an avid Clinton Lumberking and Chicago Cub fan. He enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, cards, and cribbage with his friends.
Wilbur is survived by his daughter: Diane (Philip) Pfaffly of Carefree, Arizona; his son: Jeff (Jana) Obermiller of East Moline, Illinois; 3 grandchildren: Matthew Pfaffly, Anna Pfaffly, and Jami (Josh) Killian; and two sisters: Marian Byers of Clinton, and Shirley (Jack) Wohlstadter of Rock Falls, Illinois.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother: Lester, and two sisters: Ruth Goble, and Doris Robinson.
