Wayne Wilcox's Obituary
Wayne Allen Wilcox, 68, of Clinton, IA, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the V A Medical Center in Iowa City, IA. Services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 4-8PM. Burial will be at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted. Pallbearers will be Brian Hughes, Delbert Gruhn, David Steen, Tim Miller, Earl Farrell, Marcus Lawrence and Tom Schmits.
Wayne born July 8, 1940, in Maquoketa, IA, the son of Galen and Ruth (Kingsley) Wilcox. He was a Maquoketa High School graduate. Wayne was a US Marine Corps veteran. He married Joan Voss in Clinton at St. Paul Lutheran Church on September 21, 1963. Wayne was employed at Dupont as a mechanic in maintenance for 37 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, AMVETS and the Clinton County Humane Society. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and Nascar.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Wilcox of Clinton, IA; daughter Julie (Chuck) Murray of Iowa City, IA; grandson, Alexander Heim; and sisters, Barbara (Robert) Hughes of Delmar, Iowa and Bonnie Schmits of Davenport, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert. Memorials may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
