Wayne J. Chandler's Obituary
Wayne J. Chandler, 82, of Clinton passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Thursday December 13, 2018 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be his step grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the service time Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that everyone wear their favorite sports gear in remembrance of Wayne.
Wayne John Chandler was born November 26, 1936, the son of Harry L. and Minnie (Edens) Chandler. He attended school in Low Moor and graduated from Clinton High School in 1955. He worked for Clinton Corn and later A.D.M for 42 years retiring in 1998. After Retirement he worked for Superwash and at Valley Oaks Golf Course. He was a member the Clinton AMVETS and the Clinton Eagle’s Club.
He married Jill Buckman of which he had his four children with; they divorced and he later married Phyllis Meyermann in 1988.
Wayne loved to hunt and fish and he was always telling his friends how many fish he “didn’t” catch. He was a sports enthusiast, he enjoyed coaching his children’s little league games and he was an avid Hawkeye, Cubs and Bears fan. He never missed watching a game. He loved going to his 3-5 group at the AMVETS.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Phyllis of Clinton; four children: Brian (Paula) Chandler of Gooselake, Iowa, Cheryl (Dave) Voss of Clinton, Brenda (Kurt) Daehler of Clinton and Keith (Melissa) Chandler of Cicero, Indiana; step children: Ronald (Tami) Meyermann of Clinton and Scott (Paula) Meyermann of Clinton; grandchildren: Josh (Stephanie) Chandler, Jake (Shannon) Voss, Ashley (Matt) Sherman, Jared (Catelyn) Daehler, Ethan Daehler and Levi Chandler; step-grandchildren: Evan (Aditi) Meyermann, Collin Meyermann, Nolan Meyermann, Morgan Romero, Amberlyn (Zach) Mink, Jeremy Meyermann and Aaron Meyermann; great grandchildren: Ayden Green, Ella Sherman, Ava Sherman and Rhylan Voss; sister: Shirley Milder of Muscatine, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
