Wanda Hanson's Obituary
Wanda W. Hanson, 79, of Davenport and formerly of Clinton, IA, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Bettendorf Health Care Facility. Services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, in Clinton, IA. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Paul Spalding, Pete Andresen, Andrew Andresen, Matthew Carney, Jordan David and Marshall Hanson. Wanda was born February 21, 1933 in Dublin, TX, the daughter of Charles L. and Annabel (Cofer) Hickman. She married Paul Hanson, Sr. on December 21, 1954 in East St. Louis, IL; he passed away January 2, 2006. Wanda spent many years farming with Paul and raising children. She worked a number of years at nursing homes in Maquoketa and Clinton, Iowa using her cooking skills to provide satisfying meals to the residents. Wanda also worked at Data Dimensions in Clinton, retiring in 2006. She helped with 4-H events, coached softball and organized a number of fundraisers for St. Anne Parish in Welton, IA. Wanda enjoyed reading, sewing, movies, playing cards, genealogy and cooking and baking for her large family. There was never a holiday or celebration in the Hanson household without several of her wonderful pies. Wandaâ??s most important focus was her family and she will be greatly missed. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda (Pat) Marr of Monroe, WI; Donna (Terry) Andresen of Miles, IA; Deb (Mike) Carney of Davenport, IA; Becky (Dan) David of Waverly, IA; Barbara (Tom) Thompson of Denver, CO and Shirley Hunter of Davenport, IA; Sons, Robert Hanson of Jacksonville, Fl; Tom (Molly) Hanson of Callahan, FL and Rich Hanson of Davenport, IA; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and sister, Joyce (David) Bennett of Sulphur Springs, TX. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Hanson, Jr., grandson, Michael Spalding, two brothers and her parents. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
