Virginia Roessler's Obituary
Virginia L. Roessler, 91, of Clinton died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. Cremation has taken place at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Graveside services will be 11:00 am on Friday, April 3, 2009 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Virginia Louise Matthews was born on April 14, 1917 in Clinton, the daughter of Byron L. and Hilda (Ray) Matthews. She was a 1934 Clinton High School graduate. She married Donald Roessler on December 18, 1954 in Clinton; he died on January 14, 1999. She was a homemaker and had been employed with A.C. Nielsen’s Clearing House. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved to paint, read, travel, and collect seashells along the many beaches she visited. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her two sisters: Mary E. (Don) Davis of Clinton and Carol (Gary) Zaiser of DE; three grandchildren: Todd Campbell of CA, Leigh (Tom) Kinne of FL, and Scott Pirch of ID; and two great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Tom Campbell, one daughter: Patty Pirch, two grandchildren: Nicole and Shawn Pirch, 2 brothers: Allen and Byron Matthews, and one sister: Grace Whalen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alverno or the First United Methodist Church.
