Growing up, Ginny was my neighborhood playmate. We played house with our dolls under our big old box elder tree and imagined forms in the clouds while swinging in her hammock. We would also sling ropes over the branches of that old tree and ride away with Gene, Roy and Hop-along Cassidy.
She had a bunch of vintage clothes that we could dress up in and we would pretend that we were nightclub singers and take turns "performing" our songs like they did in the movies we attended. She was an only child for several years and had more toys than I did but she always willingly shared. We played with her paper dolls a lot. The first time I was invited to stay overnight, I got homesick and had to go home. Eventually, I was able to overcome being homesick and it was fun to sleep on her feather tick mattress and her Mom, Louella, always had something good for breakfast. ( Louella always made delicious egg salad sandwiches and would bring them to the neighborhood house parties my folks hosted.) I was two years younger than Ginny but we remained good friends into Junior High School days when we both became closer to girls in our own grade.
I have fond memories of our childhood years and my sincere sympathy goes out to her family. May her soul rest in peace. Florence "Bug" Martin Holle
