Virginia "Ginnie" A. Halsted's Obituary
Virginia “Ginnie” Halsted, 96 of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Alverno.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Virginia A. Hubbard was born on August 21, 1928 in Walpole, Massachusetts, the daughter of James and Mary (Cabral) Hubbard. She was a graduate of Buffalo High School and attended Albright Art Gallery Fine Arts school. She married Ronald Halsted on August 21, 1946 in Williamsville, New York; he passed away February 23, 2017.
Ginnie owned and operated RTH Janitorial Enterprises with her husband for more than 28 years, retiring in 1989. She also had worked at Jane Lamb Hospital.
Ginnie was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, and original member of the Circle #78 St. Mary’s, former member of the Ladies of the Moose, a charter member of the Breakfast Club at St. Mary’s and volunteered as a pink lady at the hospital.
Ginnie is survived by her children: Sharon (Richard) Otten; Garry Halsted and Karen Pessman all of Clinton; grandson Michael Halsted of Clinton, whom Ginnie raised; as well as many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Sallie, a granddaughter, Sherri Moss, great-grandson, Brian Ray, Jr. and a sister: Florence.
