Vernon W.H. Paulsen's Obituary
Vernon William Herman Paulsen, 88, of Clinton, Iowa, passed December 6th, 2018.
Vernon was born to Arthur John August Paulsen and Mildred Wilhemenia (Berner) Paulsen, August 17th, 1930, in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. He married Jeanette Louise (Schnoor) Paulsen on March 18th 1962, and they lived together in Clinton, Iowa. Together they raised 1 child.
He leaves as his legacy, 1 child, Steven Paulsen (Nicole Abbott-Paulsen) of Clinton, Iowa, He also leaves to cherish his memory, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death on November 21st, 2018 by Jeanette Louise Paulsen his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Paulsen) Baker, (sister), and his parents Arthur John August Paulsen and Mildred Wilhemenia (Berner) Paulsen.
Vernon was employed at Dupont (E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company) until he retired in 1985 after 35 years of employment. Vernon was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the 213th Field Artillery Battalion. His hobbies included metal detecting as well as coin and stamp collecting. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians since 1963 and performed as a magician in his younger years. He enjoyed listening to Dixieland Jazz and Big Band era music as well as playing the organ and accordion.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 14, 2018, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Snell-Zornig Funeral Home, 302 3rd Avenue South, Clinton, Iowa 52732. Pastor Clark Olsen-Smith will officiate the ceremony.
