Vernon Lee Lafollette's Obituary
Vernon Lee Lafollette, 91, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Alverno, Clinton. Services will be held at 12:00PM (Noon) Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Vernon was born March 23, 1931 in Saline, MO, the son of James M. and Winnie May (Johnson) Lafollette. He married Iris McBride on June 12, 1961 in Bethany, MO.
Vernon had been employed at Wendling Quarries from 1955 until retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed auctions, flea markets, antiquing, woodworking and refinishing furniture and collecting old toys. Most of all, Vernon enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Iris of Camanche, IA; daughter, Patti (Perry) Struve of Clinton, IA; grandchildren, Anna (Brandon) Stevens of Bettendorf, IA; Colin Jones of Clinton, IA; Danielle (Mitchell) Crockett of Camanche, IA; Brian (Brooke) Lafollette and Clayton Struve both of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Lily, Chloe, Carter, Emma, Kyra, Baylor, Cavan, Weslee and George and brothers, Doyle (Sherry) of Princeton, MO; Gary of Omaha, NE and James Morris (Janice) of Alma, AR.
Vernon was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela; brother, Donald and his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Pamela Lafollette memorial at Clinton Community College.
