Vernon Goers' Obituary
Vernon L. Goers, 89, of Clinton, IA, died Wednesday at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton. Services will be held 1PM Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig where an 8PM Rose Croix service will be conducted. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted. Pallbearers will be Dick Miller, Jeff Miller, Mark Petersen, Shawn Petersen, Cole Petersen and Steve Werner. Vernon was born September 25, 1919 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Herman and Adeline V. (Siegworth) Goers. He was a 1947 Clinton High School graduate. He was a WWII US Army Veteran. He married Dorothy Symons in September of 1940; she died in 1982. He later married Myra C. Bush in October of 1982. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, was member of Western Star Masonic Lodge #100 AF & AM, the Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, KAABA Shriners, Clinton Shrine Club, Clinton Shrine Oriental Band, Order of the Eastern Star, Hi-Twelve, AMVETS, American Legion and was a former Moose Lodge member. Vern had been a local musician since 1939 and was a member of the Special Services Band during WWII in Central Europe. Survivors include his wife Myra of Clinton; daughters, Donna (Richard) Miller and Judith Petersen both of Clinton; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a half sister, Imogene Siegworth of Mt. Carroll, IL. His parents and his first wife preceded him in death. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, Genesis Hospice or to the Church.
