Verne H. Blaser's Obituary
Verne H. Blaser, 95, of Camanche, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at West Wing Place – DeWitt.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00am to the service time at the funeral home.
Verne Hartman Blaser was born on September 26, 1917 in Rock Island County, Illinois, the son of Augsut and Freda (Haas) Blaser. He was a graduate of Low Moor High School. He married Dolores Thompson on December 9, 1945 in Elvira; she died September 5, 2000.
He was veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He farmed for many years outside of Camanche.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church – Camanche, Camanche Masonic Lodge, Clinton Moose Club, and enjoyed being on the Honor Flight in 2011.
He is survived by three daughters: Gloria (Robert) Stamp of Camanche, Shirley (James) Clapp of Arlington, Iowa, and Faye (Gordon) Nicklaus of Dixon, Illinois; his son: Alan (Lola) Blaser of DeWitt; ten grandchildren: Gregory (Brenda) Stamp, Michael (LeAnne) Stamp, Cindy Clapp, Angela Clapp, Janelle (Brad) Throne, Jerilyn (fiancé Steven Hocker) Clark, Michelle Blaser, Jessica (fiancé Luke Griffith) Blaser, Katie Blaser, and Cassie Blaser, and six great-grandchildren: August Stamp, Forrest Stamp, Dalton Stamp, Owen Stamp, Layne Stamp and Keegan Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister.
Memorials can be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities or Immanuel Lutheran Church – Camanche.
