Vern Worley's Obituary
Vern Worley, 80, of Clinton, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family. He went to his heavenly home, after fighting a courageous battle of cancer. Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Sparks, Chuck Wolever, Mike Cripps, Ron Cundiff, Jr., Rob Peek, Dave Young, Roger Cooper, and Larry Cooper. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Cooper, Kenny Tharpe, Tim Costin, and Matt Fuegen. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Clarence Lavern Worley was born on December 15, 1929 in Hamilton, Ks, the son of Clifford Leslie and Mae Hallren Worley. He married Billie Jean Cooper on July 3, 1995 in Clinton. Vern graduated from high school in Wichita, Kansas. Vern was a construction superintendant with Alert Construction working many job sites throughout the country, including Guadalajara, Mexico. Vern enjoyed bowling, playing cards, darts, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Vern is survived by his wife: Billie Jean of Clinton; four daughters: Marilyn (Rob) Peek of Auburn, Kansas, Sue (Lang) Martin of Yate Center, Kansas, Dawn (Mike) Cripps of Racine, Wisconsin, and Dana (Paul) Sparks of Clinton; three sons: Calvin (Lynn) Worley of California, Mike (Georgia) Worley of Kansas City, Kansas, and Chuck (Marie) Wolever of Bettendorf, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
